The Kiwanis Club of Ahwatukee is a group of your friends and neighbors working as a small part of Kiwanis International, the global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world, one community and one child at a time. Come join us! Your local Kiwanis Club performs many service projects in Phoenix and in its surrounding areas. If you are interested in participating in community service or helping children in need, we encourage you to learn about us here on our site or at a club meeting. We meet almost every Thursday morning at 7:30 a.m. Please read on for details. Our club is very pleased to announce that we have assumed greater responsibility in the planning and execution of The Festival of Lights Golf Tournament. That prestigious event will occur this year on Saturday, June 1st at the Foothills Golf Course. We are seeking a maximum of 144 golfers to participate individually or in foursomes for the 7:30 a.m. scramble. The cost to single golfers is just $100. Foursomes pay only $300! Proceeds from this event will benefit The Kiwanis Club of Ahwatukee, the Prostate Cancer Foundation and the Festival of Lights. We are seeking hole sponsors for the tournament. You may sponsor a hole for $150 (first come, first served if you would like a particular hole). Call Angela Ashley (480-221-6964) to arrange hole sponsorship. We are also accepting raffle donations. All sponsorships or donations of $150 or more will be acknowledged in our weekly club newsletter and through a link on this site through 2013. Please use the Hole Sponsor or Raffle Donation link to the right of this page to contribute. You may use the Festival of Lights Golf Tournament link on our Links page to enter the tournament and/or sign up for the wine tasting event on Saturday evening, June 1st. You may observe a slideshow of photos taken on March 30, 2013 at our 37th Annual Easter Parade and Spring Fling by clicking on the Photos link to the left of this page. The Foster Youth fundraiser item located on the right side of this page may be opened using Adobe Acrobat reader. Please contact the Webmaster if you have any questions about the event. Our third Annual "Bikes for Tykes" drive was so successful that we have decided to make it a year round project. Please contact us to donate your gently used bikes. We'll fix them up so don't worry if yours isn't in perfect shape. We sincerely appreciate your help. Follow this link to watch a YouTube video of Cub Scout Pack 879 fixing up bikes for this project. Contact Andi Pettyjohn (602-402-6267) or Bob Anderson (602-502-4504) to make a donation. You may also indicate your desire to donate a bike by selecting that option on the Member/Guest Options page. This is our Home page. Take a look at the Club Information page (above and to the left) to contact our President, get more information about our club, to contact our Webmaster or to view a map to help you find our meeting place. We welcome you to join us for a meeting, so that you might get to better know who we are and what we do. Please see the Activities Calendar page (above left, again, with the rest of our pages) to determine who will be our guest speaker, and for exceptions to the almost every Thursday rule. Our Photos page contains pictures we've taken during recent club activities. The Links page may be used to contact some of our members or sponsors directly. It also provides some handy tools and the means to connect with other Kiwanis entities. Finally, members and non-members alike have several options on our Member/Guest Options page. If you're not yet a member of our club you can request an application to join, ask to be put on our newsletter mailing list, request to speak to the club, donate a bike etc. Here is a partial listing of our service projects and community contributions: Reading Is Fundamental * Children's Book Drive * Easter Parade and Spring Fling * The Festival of Lights Charity Golf Tournament * Back to School Shopping Spree * The Festival of Lights Kick-Off Party * Salvation Army Bell Ringing * The adoption of needy families at Thanksgiving, Christmas, and as needed throughout the year * Sponsorship of Key Clubs at two local High Schools * Funding six Ahwatukee Kiwanis Community Service Awards presented at three local Middle Schools * Five year, $25,000 pledge to the YMCA Capital Expansion Campaign * Bikes for Tykes, Adoption of five foster homes during the holiday season...
